Gray roots: everybody gets them, nobody wants them. And who has time to hit the salon every two weeks for touch-ups?
That’s why TouchBack was created by Joan Lasker, a former Beauty Editor of Vogue and Vice President of L’Oreal, who wanted a quick, easy and inexpensive way to get rid of the gray.
What is it?
TouchBack is a professional hair color in the form of a marker that covers gray instantly and effectively. No rubbing in, flaking off or brushing out necessary. TouchBack bonds to your hair for real color that looks natural and won’t fade.
Designed specifically for those last few weeks before reapplying permanent color, TouchBack can actually lengthen the time between colorings.
How does it work?
The perfect cosmetic for your hair, TouchBack can be applied just as easily as blush and stays on until you shampoo it out. Available in eight shades, this revolutionary product will blend seamlessly with your permanent hair color.
Unlike other hair mascaras and crayons, TouchBack contains gentle ingredients and no harsh chemicals, so it won’t damage your hair and is compatible with most styling products.
Simply apply the TouchBack marker to dry hair. For more resistant gray, hold on the hair to deposit more color. Kit includes a special comb that acts as a skin shield for use at the temples and hairline.
TouchBack is the perfect, portable touch-up tool that allows you to cover your gray roots at home or on-the-go.

There is not magic bullet including this product. I have used it and it is not the answer. Imagine using a ‘sharpie’ in it’s liquid form via different applicator. It WILL get on your skin and no brush will prevent it. You’re better off just doing root touch up between salon colorings. I have tried it ALL – my gray grows in so fast between applications of dark blonde that in 72 hours – i begin to see places at the temple turning white. Now, I understand that there IS no magic product that rivals the application of permanent color. They are ALL flawed. I just use eyebrow color with a bit of hair spray now product for emergencies and then do the touch up two weeks after salon color. I get professional color every four weeks. THERE IS NO OTHER WAY. But THIS product is just a costly sharpie. IMO, you’ll be disappointed.
